Sunday. My only day at home. And not one in which I expected to be quietly joyous about spelling. Or my teenage daughter’s defence of it.
I was woken too early by a family member alerting me to the no-milk situation. A couple of hours later, visitors pop in for a coffee. Oops, no milk and I’m still in pj’s.
The dog decides to go walkies and a friend’s son calls me to say the dog is outside his gym. Covered in mud.
Trying to get a huge file from my Dropbox to daughter’s laptop and cannot find a usb stick, despite having bought dozens throughout the kids’ school years.
But all this was forgotten when my teenage daughter relayed the following piece of news:
“Mum, I can’t believe that some people can’t even spell. These fans on Twitter spelled Justin’s name Beiber – don’t they know the i before e rule?!? I wanted to burn them but I let it go.”
Grammar grouch in the making… My life’s purpose has been achieved. 😉
